Food Ingredient Granulation & Processing

Free-flowing, non-caking granular grades of sugars, salts and food ingredients, made dry in dedicated food rooms.

D&A Granulation granulates, mills, screens, blends and repackages dry food ingredients in dedicated food rooms at an FDA registered, ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Lakewood, NJ, using dry processes with no binders or added water.

Fine food powders cake in storage, dust at the line, segregate in blends and flow unevenly into fillers. Dry granulation by roll compaction presses the powder into a dense, uniform granule that flows and doses consistently, without changing the ingredient by adding liquid or a binder.

Food ingredients we work with

  • Sugars and sweeteners - free-flowing granular grades and sized cuts.
  • Salts and mineral salts - calcium, magnesium and other mineral ingredients that cake or dust as fine powders.
  • Proteins and functional ingredients - densified or sized for blending and filling.
  • Dry ingredient blends - blended in ribbon blenders, then granulated so the blend doesn't segregate.

For vitamins, minerals, creatine and other nutritional ingredients, see nutritionals and pharmaceuticals.

What granulating a food ingredient can fix

  • Caking and clumping in bags and silos.
  • Dust during handling, blending and filling.
  • Segregation in multi-ingredient blends.
  • Low or inconsistent bulk density that throws off fill weights.
  • Poor flow through feeders and packaging equipment.

How we handle food work

Three of our seven processing rooms are dedicated to food, nutritional and excipient work, separate from the chemical rooms. Dust collection runs during processing, every lot is tracked, and we check particle size distribution against your spec. Your material stays your property throughout. See quality and certifications.

Frequently asked questions

No. D&A runs dry processes only. Roll compaction and pelletizing densify the powder by pressure, so nothing is added to your ingredient.

Are food ingredients processed separately from chemicals?

Yes. Three of our seven processing rooms are dedicated to food, nutritional and excipient work, physically separate from the chemical and additive rooms.

Is D&A FDA registered?

Yes. D&A is an FDA registered food facility. Customer QA teams can request our registration status and quality documentation.

What is the minimum batch size?

Around 750 lbs for granulation, pelletizing and blending, and around 500 lbs for milling, screening and repackaging.
